Mary Jane Doerr has acuminated twenty-five years of knowledge and experience in the history of the Bay View Association. She has been a free lance writer for the Petoskey News-Review since 1979. Her mother was the Archivist for Bay View for many years.

With this background she has spoken to groups such as the Michigan Federation of Women's Clubs, the Lansing Woman's Club, Questors and other groups. Ms. Doerr is a trustee of the Michigan Opera Theatre and has published the history of the Opera House for the Commemorative Book. She has been the opera critic for the Observer and Eccentric Newspapers and is currently a retired special education teacher. Her hobby is teaching alpine skiing to children and adults and is a certified instructor with the Central Division of the Professional Ski Instructors Association of America.
